So…$4.50 per package.  Also, the Walgreens Infant Care coupon beeped.  My cashier kindly put it through for $4, BUT most cashiers would probably not do that, it would only go through as $2. I HIT THE JACKPOT TODAY!

I just have to share!  I feel like doing a little dance of joy!  I went to our local bargain outlet today (BB’s Grocery Outlet), and boy did I score some deals!  Now for all of you who buy gluten free foods, you KNOW what they cost.  So prepare for your jaw to drop.  Here’s what I got:

Now, for the fun part.  Here’s the breakdown:

Dr McDougall’s Split Pea Soup $0.25
Imagine Brand Broccoli Soup $0.25
Three large cans of Bush’s Best Beans $0.75 each
Red Pack diced tomatoes (the BIG can) with garlic, basil, and oregano $0.60
Two cans of Luck’s Navy Beans $0.69 each
1 pound Navy Beans $0.40
Two 20 ounce bags of Great Northern Beans $0.50 each
Mini Marshmallows $0.20 (Kayla uses these with toothpicks to build things – fun little art project!)
Holland House White Cooking Wine $0.75
Home Free Soft GF Oatmeal Cookies $0.50
Two boxes of Glutino Apple Breakfast Bars $1 each
Two boxes of Glutino Blueberry Breakfast Bars $1 each
McCormick Dried Lemongrass $0.75
9 packets of Active Dry Yeast $0.10 each
Glutino Cheddar Crackers $0.25
Blue Diamond Almond Nut Thins $0.25
3 packages of Bionaturae Organic GF Spaghetti $0.60 each
Bananas $0.49/pound
1 bulb of Garlic $0.18 (don’t know what it was per pound, by my receipt says $0.18 for the garlic)
Two 2-packs of Schar Pizza Crusts $0.75 each

Oh, and a loaf of Glutino cornbread for $0.50, but it’s not in the picture because it’s in the freezer.

The other item I bought, but did not put in the picture, was 7 pounds of apples!  They were $0.49/pound (yes you read that correctly) and I am going to use them to make applesauce!  They are absolutely beautiful, and the biggest apples I have ever seen.

I know, by now you’re positively drooling.  I post this, not to make everyone jealous, but to inspire you to go out and investigate the outlets near you.  They get a bad rap for expired food and dirt, but seriously, I like to view it as a treasure hunt.  Kayla asked me on the way, “how many things do we need”, and I said, “we don’t go to BB’s with a list, we just go see what treasures they have for us”.  Of course you have to watch dates, and don’t get things that are terribly dented, but really it is a great option, as you can see.  Not every store obviously will have these prices, but it can’t hurt to try.

And, if you’re in the Lancaster, PA area, try out BB’s on Camargo Road in Quarryville.  There is also a BB’s in Morgantown, one in Schaefferstown, and one in Newburg.  The Quarryville and Schaefferstown stores DO NOT take credit cards, and none of the stores take coupons.  But seriously, at these prices, who needs coupons? (Can’t believe I said that.)

Now, go check out what is around you.

And one more thing to mention:  GF foods often do not have as long of a shelf life, and also do not sell as quickly at the major grocery stores.  So, it is very common to find them on an outlet store shelf, because as soon as they get close to dates, that is where they go.  So your chances are really good at finding some serious deals!  And while some of the items might be close to expiration, or slightly past, through experimentation we have figured out what is still good and how long after the dates.  We rarely have a problem with this.  To each his own!
